To get unusual results in life it requires uncommon ingredients. We must pursue the one thing that can unearth the uncommon treasures of God.
The wisdom of God in the hands of believers is the most powerful thing on the earth. Joseph proved that as he stood before Pharaoh, the King of Egypt filled with the wisdom of God. Joseph achieved the dream God gave him and stood in a position of authority that few have dared to walk in. Though he had been confined to prison for many years, his ability to hear God’s voice and receive God’s wisdom remained clear.
The Pharaoh was so awed by Joseph’s words that he immediately elevated Joseph out of prison and into the highest position of authority in the land under the Pharaoh himself. The wisdom of God spoken at the right time is such a powerful force that it can change our circumstances with one conversation!
Possibly the greatest example of a man who operated in God’s wisdom was King Solomon. Few men in history have come close to matching Solomon’s accomplishments. None have rivaled his wealth. His wisdom came from God, but the example and instruction of his father, David, gave him the heart to desire wisdom above anything else.
Shortly after David’s death, God spoke to Solomon through a dream. In First Kings 3:5 the Lord makes this remarkable statement to Solomon, “Ask! What shall I give you?” (NKJV). Solomon’s answer revealed that he already knew what was of highest value. In verse 9 he answered, “Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil…”
Solomon was different from others. When others would ask something for themselves, Solomon asked for something that would benefit God’s people, and ultimately, God’s plan. When the typical request would be to ask for health or wealth, Solomon asked for understanding and wisdom.
We will never rise to the top by doing what’s common or ordinary. The people who see their dreams become a reality go beyond the usual to the unusual, beyond the natural and into the supernatural.
It takes rare ingredients to obtain uncommon results. It requires seeking what others have not recognized as valuable to unearth the uncommon treasures of God. We can move beyond the ordinary Christian existence into an extraordinary life when we are bold enough to ask God for His wisdom and counsel for those He has placed in our sphere of influence.
The wisdom of God will bring us before great men and women. “A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men” (Proverbs 18:16 NKJV). The world is waiting for the people of God to look beyond their own need and bring His wisdom to their hopeless situations. Let’s join those who are committed to bringing God’s wisdom and influence to the desperate and hurting people around us.
