Empowered To Prosper

God first spoke to Abram that He would establish an entrance into every nation on earth through a covenant. God was preparing to bring His dream of blessing
mankind into reality, and He needed a man to begin this process with.

Abram, who would later be called Abraham, is the father of faith. He is also called the father of us all. It was his faith in God’s Word that changed everything.
The covenant he entered into with God made God’s blessing and abundance available to anyone who would pursue Abraham’s God.

Notice the passage in Genesis 12:1-3 where God first speaks to Abraham:

“Now the Lord had said to Abram: ‘Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you
a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who
curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed'” (NKJV).

The Amplified Bible sheds important light on verse 3. It says: “And I will bless those who bless you [who confer prosperity or happiness upon
you] and curse him who curses or uses insolent language toward you; in you will all the families and kindred of the earth be blessed [and by you they
will bless themselves].”

Notice that we bless ourselves when we bless those who are blessed. This is a law of God which needs to be explored.

Those who would confer prosperity or happiness on Abram would bring upon themselves the blessing which God placed on His covenant man.

This law will work for us too. We will bring blessing and prosperity upon ourselves when we bless the men and women of God who are walking in the covenant
of blessing of Abraham. When we give to those who are successfully receiving the blessing of God, we can enter into their success and also begin to
receive this same covenant blessing for ourselves.

To use the words of The Amplified Bible, those upon whom we confer prosperity and happiness will be blessed by God, thus bringing blessing upon
ourselves.

The word bless is an interesting word. Its meaning includes “to empower to prosper.” We impart prosperity when we give and empower another person to prosper.
In other words, when we bless someone else, we also bless ourselves.

It is a misconception to think that the only kind of generosity God is expecting of us is toward the poor. Without question we are to give to those who
are less fortunate. However, government assistance has demonstrated that giving financial help without teaching people how to come out of lack and
poverty is never going to answer the problem. The real issue of poverty is a spiritual problem.
