A Double Portion of Peace

Wednesday, April 01, 2020

God has us covered just like He had the Hebrews covered in Exodus 12:13, “The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt” (NKJV). And God kept that promise.

He’ll do the same for you during the COVID-19 pandemic. When you apply the blood of Jesus over your family and home, “no plague will touch you or destroy you.” You have God’s promise. You can stand on it. If you cover yourself and your loved ones in the blood of Jesus, danger will pass over you. You and your household will be protected.

The key though is remaining resolute in mind during the COVID-19 pandemic, or any other crisis. As Isaiah 26:3 says, God “will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in him, whose thoughts turn often to the Lord” (TLB). Notice that doesn’t guarantee God will keep those who only turn their thoughts toward the Lord when trouble arises. It says that those whose thoughts are often turned toward Him will remain in perfect peace. The New Living Bible says, “whose thoughts are fixed on you.”

The phrase perfect peace there in Hebrew is actually shalom shalom. It indicates the Lord will give a double portion of peace to those who continue to trust and meditate on Him.

What direction are your thoughts turned? What do you allow yourself to think about? What do you fear? Coronavirus pandemic? Economic disaster? Unemployment?

When you find your thoughts being turned toward fear, you can turn them around by simply saying out loud what the Word of God says: “I will not fear the terror by night. A thousand may fall at my side and ten thousand at my right hand, but it shall not come near me.” You can strengthen your faith by declaring the protective promises of God.

Remember, the Bible says:

If God is for us, who is against us? (Rom. 8:31).

In all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us (Rom. 8:37).

Take courage, fear not. Behold, your God will come with vengeance; the recompense of God will come, but He will save you (Is. 35:4).

Their circumstances will never shake them and others will never forget their example. They will not live in fear or dread of what may come, for their hearts are firm, ever secure in their faith. Steady and strong, they will not be afraid, but will calmly face their every foe until they go down in defeat. (Ps. 112:6-8, TPT).

With promises like that you and I have every reason to be confident that God will take care of us no matter what pandemic the world around us is experiencing. We don’t have to give fear any place at all in our lives. If we’ll listen to and believe God’s Word, we truly can fear not!

Our Covenant with God promises protection no matter how dangerous it gets out here!
