Stand Strong In His Strength

Tuesday, June 12, 2018

Proverbs 16:3 says, "Roll your works upon the Lord — commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and so shall your plans be established and succeed" (AMP).

As we roll our works upon the Lord, the Holy Spirit causes our thoughts to become an expression of His will. By yielding to God's will, we are being molded by His influence into the likeness of Jesus. He truly begins to take the lead. While some people are controlled by their flesh and others are under the influence of demon spirits, we are controlled and influenced by the Holy Spirit. We have become more sensitive to His sweet presence. He begins to send impulses to our hearts, and we respond to His quiet leading. We find that our steps are being directed by the hand of the Spirit of God. We are a vessel containing His presence, a vehicle transporting His power.

Not long ago we might have collapsed in the face of the challenges before us. Instead, we have silenced the promptings of carnal thinking. We are no longer moved by outward pressure. We look to the Holy Spirit as He brings the Word of God to life. We stand strong in His strength. Philippians 4:13 describes us: "I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me — I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me, that is I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency" (AMP).

We are walking in and with the Holy Spirit. It is a continuous attitude of the heart to reach out for the things of the Spirit — step by step, actively yielding to His influence. We take on the appearance of one who knows where he is going and what he is doing. We are self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency.

Many voices may come to advise us on what steps to take, but we simply filter them out. We know the voice of the Master. When we know Him, we can pick His voice out of the crowd. We can sense His leading and direction. Peace comes over us as we follow His course of action. If we begin to stray off course, inward uneasiness seems to shout, "STOP!" as though it were a flashing red light.

God's Word has become a living lamp to our feet. Our walk with Him becomes more intimate. Our path becomes narrow, our steps more sure.

This yielded walk is emphasized many places in the Epistles. In Galatians, Paul says, "I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh" (Galatians 5:16 NKJV). Again in the same book, he says, "If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit" (v. 25). The word walk gives us this idea: "Be constantly conducting ourselves in the Spirit."

This lifestyle would overwhelm anyone unless they could see just how Jesus walked. But Luke 4:1,14 reveals that to us: "Then Jesus, full of and controlled by the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led in by the Holy Spirit...Then Jesus went back full of and under the power of the Holy Spirit into Galilee, and the fame of Him spread through the whole region round about" (AMP).

We can be full of and controlled by the Holy Spirit just like Jesus was. Yield to Him today!
