It takes determination in the Word of God to cultivate the areas of our lives that will bring the blessing of God. But as we become more and more determined we will experience more and more of God's mighty power at work in each different aspect of our lives.
Jesus taught that the kingdom of God worked from within. He said, "The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened" (Matthew 13:33 NKJV). It doesn't take long before a little leaven will affect the whole piece of dough.
The laws and principles of God's kingdom continue to work in every part of our lives as long as we continue in His Word. The first important tool that will help us experience God's power is learning to meditate on God's Word (see devotionals on January 1-14 to learn more about meditating God's Word). Meditation will activate ideas within us that will be inspired by God.
The second tool that will help us experience God's power is speaking in tongues which God has given us. God makes available to every believer a supernatural language to enable him to pray God's perfect will from his spirit. First Corinthians 14:2 says, "For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries" (NJKV).
As we meditate upon and yield ourselves to God's Word, we will find ourselves praying in the Spirit for God's perfect will for both ourselves and others. It is a precious gift from God that will build us up. Jude 20 says, "But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit" (AMP).
A third aspect that will help us experience God's power is to diligently attend to matters involving our money. If we will follow God's directions concerning finances, we will find the wisdom of God and the blessings of God will come upon them.
It is also important to remain in a giving attitude. God will direct us to give continually. But He will also show us how to receive. He will adjust our thinking to correspond to His thoughts. Isaiah 55:8 says, "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways" (NKJV). As we meditate in God's Word our thoughts will be adjusted and we will begin thinking His thoughts.
Proverbs 13:4 says, "The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich" (NKJV). In this passage, God is revealing to us one of the secrets to increasing in His abundance. We cooperate with Him through our complete willingness to follow His direction.
Then we begin to think as He does. Proverbs 21:5 says this: "The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty" (NKJV). Our thoughts are seeds. The closer our thoughts become like God's, the more seed we are planting into our lives. Then those seeds of plenty produce a great harvest. That harvest is the reward of diligence.
